Girls Basketball Team Dominates but Doesn't Defeat the Opposition

The JC Hill Girls Basketball team fought some hard, close contested battles today, going 1-2 in the District Tournament.  An 8-6 loss to I.L. Thomas started the day.  Even though the girls dominated the boards and ball possession, shutting ILTO out in the second half, the missed shots were too plentiful to claim a victory.  The six fouls also didn't help matters.  Mariah and Jazzy found the score sheet in the loss.

Our second game proved better as the girls took a 5-1 lead into the second half and finished strong against OMSK, with seven girls scoring points for the 19-11 victory.  Jazzy, Kenna and Mariah each had four points apiece, with Madison, Keelyn and Shaely adding buckets and Kenzie hitting one of her free throws.  It was a total team effort as more girls sunk their shots and the team kept their fouls down to two.

The final game saw the team lose a heartbreaker to ECG, 16-12.  The refs put away their whistles and a 10-8 half time lead was lost in a second half filled with missed shots and some defensive breakdowns.  Even though we had the ball for most of the final three minutes, we just couldn't sink the tying points in time.  Jazzy led the team in scoring with 4 points, while Madison, Kenzie, Keelyn, and Shaely added a pair apiece.

We'd love to see the girls get a second chance, as this group supported each other and kept positive throughout the tournament.  We hope you had a fun time playing and learning and there is a special surprise for you coming after the March Break.
